ATM Cards

Once you open a new Bank of America checking account, or if you already have an existing Bank of America checking account, you can replace your existing ATM card with a debit card in the following ways:

  • Call 1.800.432.1000 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time Monday through Friday or 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time Saturday and Sunday
  • Visit a banking center

You will receive your new debit card in 5 to 7 business days.

To request a new PIN, call 1.800.432.1000 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time Monday through Friday or 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time Saturday and Sunday. You may also visit a banking center.

You will receive your new ATM card in 5 to 7 business days.

Bank of America customers can transfer funds, make deposits, inquire about a balance, and withdraw cash with their Bank of America debit card without a fee at thousands of Bank of America ATMs in the United States. Other account fees may apply to the transaction such as an Excess Withdrawal fee for savings accounts. Please refer to your Personal Schedule of Fees for more details.

Withdrawals, transfers, and balance inquiries from ATMs at other financial institutions in the United States will be assessed a fee. You may also be charged a fee by the ATM operator or any network used. You may be charged a fee for a balance inquiry even if you do not complete a funds transfer.

There are fees for each requested replacement of an ATM card. The replacement fee does not

apply when we replace a card upon its expiration. Fees also apply for each requested rush delivery of an ATM card. Please refer to your Personal Schedule of Fees for more details.

If you do not know your PIN, please visit a banking center or call 1.800.432.1000 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time Monday through Friday or 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time Saturday and Sunday and we will mail you a reminder.

We recommend that you set a travel notice on the card(s) you plan to use while traveling in order to minimize the possibility of card access being interrupted. To set a travel notice, sign in to Online Banking or call 1.800.432.1000.

For your protection, we will continue to monitor card activity even when a travel notice is set. If you encounter any issues while traveling, please contact us toll-free at 1.877.833.5617 or internationally by calling collect at 1.602.597.2395.

Chip technology means that your card comes with an embedded microchip that provides an extra layer of security as ATMs become chip-enabled. The chip encrypts information to help increase data security when making transactions at a chip-enabled terminal. You can use your card as you do today by following the instructions at the ATM. No. There are no additional fees associated with chip cards. However, fees may apply for each replacement ATM card you request. This fee does not apply when we replace a card upon its expiration. Please refer to your Personal Schedule of Fees or Business Schedule of Fees for more details.
